Mr. Asoka Dharmasinghe
A victim of "Jnatha Vimukthi Peramuna" cruelty who suffered with loss of both eyes due to punishment meted out by the JVP when he refused to adhere to their instructions in not proceeding to his legitimate duties as an Army officer. A chemical solution thrown on his face made him blind for the rest of his life. He is now living helplessly in a shelter provided by the Army.

This is the wife and daughter of soldier L. D. S Deepal Chandana, who fought gallantly with the terrorists when they attacked Vauniar on 30/9/1997 and succumbed to his injuries. The little daughter born on 17/05/1998 was not lucky enough to see her father, Mrs. Amarasena not having a house of her own is staying with her parents now.

She got married to G.P. Kumarasinghe when he was attached to Balangoda Police as a Reserve Police Constable just after leaving school. He was in the active combat service from October 1992. The last station posted to was Trincomalee Police station. While serving there he has to pay the supreme penalty by his life due to a land mine of the militants. Consequent to this tragedy she could enjoy the married life only for three months and became a victim of the cruel war with a disturbed mind.

One time a valiant soldier now confined to a wheel chair lifeless below the hip due to an attack by Tamil militants at Elephant pass on 27/4/1991. It is left to fate to decide how long he will have to stay like this. This is only one isolated case. There are hundreds who are suffering like this due to the ongoing conflict.

While working as SI in Kalmunai he received injuries to both hands due to an attack from a parcel bomb. His right hand was completely damaged below the wrist and he lost 4 fingers in the left hand and damaged to the palm. Due to this both hands are inactive, during the entire life span he have to depend on someone for his day to day personnel needs like eating, dressing and other abolitions.
