Workshops on Artificial Limbs
The only government organization providing artificial limbs
for the disabled service personnel in Sri Lanka is the Rana
Viru Sevena at Ragama. Other than this there are two other private
organizations manufacturing limbs for the needy. But considering
the demand for artificial limbs the supply is not sufficient.
Furthermore, the victimized serviceman has to spend an exorbitant
amount of money if he has to purchase an artificial limb from
a private dealer. What happens in most cases are when the supply
from government organization gets delayed the individual has
no other alternative than to go for his requirement to a private
dealer. |
|
| If our members also could be provided training in a workshop
this will facilities the requirement of providing A/Limbs to
our victimized servicemen. We are |
|
| hopeful of getting some of our members trained in such a workshop
where |
|
they could learn the art of manufacturing artificial limbs
for the benefit of our victimized service men. If this could
be achieved with the help of financial support from some donors
locally or foreign it will be a dream come true for the welfare
of the suffering service personnel. With the support extended
by the government in the form of reduced taxes in getting down
any raw materials required the cost of production will be minimized.
